In 2006 a man living in Brisbane, Australia tried to auction of the whole country of New Zealand starting at just one Australian cent. The man didn’t think much of NZ and had only been to the country once. The bidding started at one cent and 22 bids later, it reached the price of 3000 Australian Dollars which was still an astoundingly small price, given that they were auctioning a whole country. After a couple days, eBay shut down the bidding and called it ” one of the most stupidest items that had ever been on the the online market place”.
“Clearly, New Zealand is not for sale.” stated Daniel Feiler, eBay’s spokesperson stated. “occasionally quirky items come up for sale on the website but when they do, we remove them right away and make sure they stay off.”
